Construction on the I-25/Rio Bravo Interchange Project is planned in seven phases . Phase O, the ramp-up phase, was completed on Sept. 10, 2017. Phases 1-3 were completed as of April 29, 2019. We are currently in Phase 4. Drivers can expect the following traffic impacts in Phase 4: As of Monday morning, April 29, a new loop ramp will be open for eastbound traffic on Rio Bravo to access northbound I-15. The new one-lane loop ramp will allow eastbound traffic on Rio Bravo to stay in the right (outside) lane to access northbound I-25 freely, without a traffic signal, while eastbound traffic can use the left (inside) lane to continue to University.
EASTBOUND TRAFFIC ON RIO BRAVO WISHING TO ACCESS NORTHBOUND I-25 MUST STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE AND MUST TAKE THE LOOP RAMP.
Northbound I-25 – Traffic on northbound (NB) I-25 has two (2) lanes open through the interchange. The NB off-ramp will remain closed through spring 2019.
Southbound I-25 – The I-25 southbound on-ramp is closed to westbound traffic through spring 2019 but is open to eastbound traffic on Rio Bravo.
Eastbound Rio Bravo –There are two (2) lanes open. Traffic must take the right lane to access I-25 southbound, and also must stay in the right lane to take the new one-lane loop ramp to access northbound I-25 (see map).
Northbound I-25 — traffic will be shifted to the right lane and shoulder throughout the construction zone; the I-25 northbound off-ramp is at Rio Bravo through spring 2019. Broadway Boulevard is the detour (see map below).
Southbound I-25 — traffic is shifted to the new permanent lanes just west of the existing northbound lanes and north of the Rio Bravo interchange. Also, the I-25 southbound on-ramp is at Rio Bravo through fall 2018. Broadway Boulevard is the detour (see map below).
Eastbound Rio Bravo – is on new lanes between Prince and I-25. There is a dedicated left turn lane for eastbound traffic to turn north on Broadway.
Westbound Rio Bravo – is on new lanes between Prince and I-25. There is a dedicated left turn lane for westbound traffic to turn south on Broadway.
NOTE: There are also traffic restrictions and lane reductions on northbound and southbound Broadway near the Rio Bravo intersection.
Electric Avenue – There is no access to Electric Avenue from southbound Broadway.
NOTE: The multi-use path is closed about 400 feet west of the intersection of Broadway and Rio Bravo for safety for the duration of the project.
