Construction on the I-25/Rio Bravo Interchange Project is planned in seven phases . Phase O, the ramp-up phase, was completed on Sept. 10, 2017. We are currently in Phase 1, which is expected to last through spring 2018. Drivers can expect the following traffic impacts during Phase 1:
Northbound I-25 — traffic will be shifted to the right lane and shoulder throughout the construction zone;
Southbound I-25 — traffic will remain on the existing lanes north of Rio Bravo, be shifted to the inside lane and shoulder south of Rio Bravo, then be shifted back to the outside lane and shoulder farther south;
Eastbound Rio Bravo – traffic will be shifted to the south lanes west of Broadway, then shifted back to the existing lanes west of the South Diversion Channel;
Westbound Rio Bravo – traffic will be shifted to new temporary pavement in the media area; and.
Electric Avenue – There is no access to Electric Avenue from southbound Broadway.
All on-ramps and off-ramps in the area will remain open.
NOTE: The multi-use path is closed about 400 feet west of the intersection of Broadway and Rio Bravo for safety for the duration of the project.
During the day, the contractor will keep two lanes of traffic open in each direction on I-25 and one lane open in each direction on Rio Bravo. If night work is needed, the contractor may limit access on I-25 to one lane in each direction. Rio Bravo may be closed at night for bridge demolition.
