Construction on the I-25/Rio Bravo Interchange Project is planned in seven phases . Phase O, the ramp-up phase, was completed on Sept. 10, 2017. Phase 1 was completed on May 17, 2018. We are currently in Phase 2, which is expected to last through fall 2018. Drivers can expect the following traffic impacts during Phase 2:
Northbound I-25 — traffic will be shifted to the right lane and shoulder throughout the construction zone; the I-25 northbound off-ramp is at Rio Bravo through spring 2019. Broadway Boulevard is the detour (see map below).
Southbound I-25 — traffic is shifted to the new permanent lanes just west of the existing northbound lanes and north of the Rio Bravo interchange. Also, the I-25 southbound on-ramp is at Rio Bravo through fall 2018. Broadway Boulevard is the detour (see map below).
Eastbound Rio Bravo – is on new lanes between Prince and I-25. There is a dedicated left turn lane for eastbound traffic to turn north on Broadway.
Westbound Rio Bravo – is on new lanes between Prince and I-25. There is a dedicated left turn lane for westbound traffic to turn south on Broadway.
NOTE: There are also traffic restrictions and lane reductions on northbound and southbound Broadway near the Rio Bravo intersection.
Electric Avenue – There is no access to Electric Avenue from southbound Broadway.
NOTE: The multi-use path is closed about 400 feet west of the intersection of Broadway and Rio Bravo for safety for the duration of the project.
During the day, the contractor will keep two lanes of traffic open in each direction on I-25 and one lane open in each direction on Rio Bravo. If night work is needed, the contractor may limit access on I-25 to one lane in each direction. Rio Bravo may be closed at night for bridge demolition.
