About this Project

The I-25/Rio Bravo Interchange includes the following features and benefits:

Better traffic flow:

  • Two lanes for southbound I-25 traffic to edit and head west on Rio Bravo
  • One-lane loop ramp for east bound traffic on Rio Bravo to access northbound I-25
  • Separate ramp for Mesa Del Sol/University Blvd. traffic to access northbound I-25
  • Eastbound Rio Bravo to northbound I-25 traffic and southbound I-25 to eastbound Rio Bravo traffic moves simultaneously
  • Signalized pedestrian/bicycle crossing at Rio Bravo and I-25
  • Additional lane on northbound I-25 at Rio Bravo interchange


  • 2 storm drainage retention ponds to improve drainage
  • A new railroad crossing
  • Intelligent Transportation System
  • New traffic lights
  • 3 coordinated, signalized intersections
  • Landscape restoration

Aesthetic treatments will be added to bridges and retaining walls to enhance the area’s culture and history.
