ALBUQUERQUE, 5-17-19 — As construction continues on the I-25 Rio Bravo Interchange Project, a number of traffic impacts are planned for the weekend of May 17-19, 2019, including:
From 9 p.m. Friday, May 17 through 7 p.m. Sunday, May 19 – The southbound I-25 off-ramp will be CLOSED to eastbound Rio Bravo so that crews can install a storm drain crossing. The southbound I-25 off ramp to westbound Rio Bravo will remain open.
From 9 p.m. Friday, May 17 through 7 p.m. Saturday, May 18 – Westbound Rio Bravo will be CLOSED from University to the I-25 Bridge so that crews can repave this section of roadway. The on-ramp to northbound I-25 will remain open.
From 7 a.m. Saturday, May 18 through 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19 – Eastbound Rio Bravo will have the outside lane closed from Prince to Broadway so that crews can coat the South Diversion Channel Bridge with epoxy.
Project officials said motorists traveling in the area should expect delays. Southbound I-25 motorists who wish to access Rio Bravo can exit I-25 at Gibson, heading west, and take Broadway Boulevard, heading south.
Expected to be completed this summer, the I-25 Rio Bravo Interchange project will include coordinated traffic signals along Rio Bravo from I-25 to Del Rio, increase I-25 from four to six lanes at the interchange, improve safety through new bridges and enhanced entrance and exit ramps from Rio Bravo to I-25, improve storm drainage, and open a new multi-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists.
