ALBUQUERQUE, 4-17-18—Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, southbound motorists who want to exit I-25 at Rio Bravo will be placed on a new one-lane exit ramp. The new one-lane, free-flow exit ramp is located about 1,000 feet north of the existing ramp, so motorists are urged to use extra caution and watch for signage before they are used to exiting I-25.
So that crews can switch traffic to the new exit ramp, the right lane of southbound I-25 will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19 through 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 20 both north and south of the Rio Bravo interchange.
Motorists who miss the new exit ramp will be required to exit southbound I-25 at Broadway and backtrack to reach their destination, project officials said.
The new ramp is part of ongoing construction for the I-25 Rio Bravo Interchange Project and is a permanent part of the new interchange, which is designed to improve traffic flow and safety.
Speed limits are reduced in the construction zone. Drivers should follow all construction signage carefully and give themselves extra time to reach their destination, particularly as they get used to changes.
Construction on the Rio Bravo Interchange Project is expected to be completed in summer 2019. More information is available by calling (505) 293-2000. All construction is weather permitting and subject to change without notice.
