ALBUQUERQUE, 3-22-18—Eastbound and westbound traffic on Rio Bravo Boulevard between Prince Street and I-25 will shift onto new lanes that are being installed north of the current lanes beginning Tuesday morning, March 27.
Project officials said the switch is part of ongoing construction for the I-25 Rio Bravo Interchange Project. The new lanes will have the exact same configuration as the existing lanes. There will be two lanes of traffic in each direction (eastbound and westbound) on Rio Bravo, with turn lanes at the intersection of Rio Bravo and Broadway for westbound traffic on Rio Bravo to travel southbound on Broadway Boulevard, and for eastbound traffic on Rio Bravo to travel northbound on Broadway Boulevard.
Speed limits are reduced in the construction zone. Drivers should follow all construction signage carefully and give themselves extra time to reach their destination, particularly as they get used to the new lanes on Rio Bravo.
Construction on the Rio Bravo Interchange Project, which is designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow and safety, is expected to be completed in summer 2019.
