ALBUQUERQUE, 12-11-17 – Rio Bravo will be closed between Broadway and I-25 from 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 through 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18 as work continues on the I-25/Rio Bravo Interchange Project. In addition, the left lane of I-25 northbound will be closed north and south of the I-25/Rio Bravo Interchange from 9 p.m. each evening to 5 a.m. the following morning on Friday, Dec. 15, Saturday, Dec. 16, and Sunday, Dec. 17.
Motorists traveling on I-25 can use the Gibson exit to the north or the Broadway exit to the south as detours to exit I-25. Local traffic can use Broadway Boulevard as a detour. University will remain open east of I-25. The work is being done over a weekend to minimize the impact to individuals who commute to work in the area. Construction on the project, which is designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow and safety, is in Phase 1, which is expected to last through March 2018. Construction on the entire project is expected to be completed in summer 2019. Speed limits are reduced in the construction zone. Motorists are encouraged to give themselves extra time to reach their destination, watch for construction signs and use extra caution when traveling through the area.
